The policy and Research Department will;
- Formulate, develop and implement research policies in collaboration with relevant line Ministries/Departments and in consultation with stakeholders.
- Undertake research and review policies in line with the mandate of the Ministry and development of the region.
- Ensure that all policies are continuously informed by current technological developments; disseminating policies and research findings to stakeholders.
- Carry out and support research initiatives for the region.
- Interpret policies, research findings and relevant statutes in line with the Ministry's mandates, goals and objectives.
