The Natural Resources, Environment, Livestock and Food Security Department will:-
- Formulate and implement policies and strategies relating to the conservation and management of Natural Resources, Environment, Livestock Development, Drought Management and Food Security in Northern Kenya and Other Arid Lands.
- Provide a platform for all actors, participating in the Natural Resource Conservation, Environmental Management, Livestock Development, Drought Management and Food Security initiatives in the region.
- Establish and sustain good working relationships with relevant line Ministries/Departments and agencies.
- Identify and provide innovative, workable and sustainable solutions to the challenges facing Conservation and Management of Natural Resources, Environment, Livestock Development, Drought Management and Food Security in the region.
- Coordinate and harmonize related programmes and projects and;
- Interpret policies and relevant statues in line with the Ministry's mandates, goals objectives.
